Agencies with a hand in regulating trade issued their plans for upcoming regulatory actions in the Spring 2015 Unified Agenda (here). Among the rules planned by the agencies are FDA’s Foreign Supplier Verification Program, a proposed overhaul of Food Safety and Inspection Service nutrition labeling, changes to Fish and Wildlife Service import regulations, and new product safety standards on recreational off-road vehicles and extension cords.

CEA President Gary Shapiro used a “super panel” on the future of TV at the ATSC Broadcast TV Conference Thursday to challenge NAB President Gordon Smith to declare that NAB plans to seek no “further delays or modifications” in the FCC incentive auction schedule. Smith responded that there wouldn’t be any delays, repeating what he said at the NAB Show that broadcasters want the auction to go forward.

Democrats on the Consumer Product Safety Commission are not giving into pressure to drop a proposed rule that would make voluntary corrective action plans legally binding. Following criticism of the proposal from congressmen, industry and a former CPSC commissioner, the CPSC on May 12 voted 3-2 along partisan lines to reject an amendment to its midyear operating plan that would have withdrawn the proposed rule. However, CPSC Chairman Elliot Kaye noted that moving forward with a final rule is not one of his top priorities.
