U.S. Customs and Border Protection has posted a notice entitled Notice of Examination: April 2009 Customs Broker License Examination, which announces that the next customs broker license exam will be held on Monday, April 6, 2009.
CBP has posted its report to Congress on the Automated Commercial Environment for the third quarter of fiscal year 2008 (April 1, 2008 to June 30, 2008). The Food and Drug Administration has issued a notice announcing its plan to launch a voluntary Secure Supply Chain (SSC) pilot program that would help promote the safety of finished drug products and active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) intended for human use that are manufactured outside the U.S.
CBP has issued a general notice advising the public of the quarterly Internal Revenue Service interest rates used to calculate interest on overdue accounts (underpayments) and refunds (overpayments) of customs duties. For the calendar quarter beginning January 1, 2009, the interest rates for overpayments will be 4% for corporations and 5% for non-corporations, and the interest rate for underpayments will be 5%. CBP has issued its 2008 "year end" tariff rate quota (TRQ) and tariff preference level (TPL) commodity report (as of December 31, 2008).
