At the May 11, 2010 meeting of the Departmental Advisory Committee on Commercial Operations of U.S. Customs and Border Protection and Related Homeland Security Functions (COAC), COAC adopted the recommendations of its Importer Security Filing Subcommittee regarding finality of the ISF transaction; improvements to the ISF progress reports for Tier 2/3 C-TPAT members; and continuing ISF outreach in 2010. The recommendations have been submitted to CBP for its consideration.
The House Ways and Means Committee’s Trade Subcommittee has issued a press release announcing that it will be holding a hearing on May 20, 2010 to review customs operations administered by U.S. Customs and Border Protection and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
On May 13, 2010, the Senate Finance Committee held a hearing on the nomination of Alan Bersin as Commissioner of U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

During the April 16, 2010 meeting of the COAC Importer Security Filing Subcommittee, CBP officials and Subcommittee members discussed various issues, including the status of ISF graduated enforcement, possible benefits for highly compliant ISF filers, finalization of the ISF, etc. CBP officials also discussed 10+2 at the April 2010 National Customs Brokers and Forwarders Association of America annual conference.
