The International Trade Commission has terminated a section 337 patent-based investigation of certain digital set-top boxes, that was based on a complaint filed by Verizon Communications Inc. of New York, NY, and Verizon Services Corp. of Arlington, VA, against Cablevision Systems Corp., of Bethpage, NY. Verizon had alleged violations of section 337 of the Tariff Act of 1930 in the importation into the U.S. and sale of certain digital set-top boxes that infringed its patents (Inv. No. 337-TA-712). The ITC had found that one patent was violated; however, a U.S. District Court found no violation, and the ITC upon reconsideration, also found no section 337 violation.
