The Food and Drug Administration has issued its final rule, effective May 6, 2009, on the submission to FDA of prior notice (PN) of food, including animal feed, which is imported or offered for import into the U.S.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection has issued a CSMS message announcing that the ABI air in-bond deployment that was scheduled to be implemented on November 22, 2008 has been delayed and is tentatively scheduled for January 14, 2009.

CBP has issued a CSMS message stating that in order to perform some previously unplanned maintenance on November 20, 2008, the Food and Drug Administration's OASIS system was scheduled to be down at 4:00 am until 6:00 am. As a result, FDA was to be operating under the Prior Notice Scenario 2 contingency. U.S. Customs and Border Protection has issued a notice announcing that effective immediately, requests to terminate and replace continuous bonds meeting certain conditions will be processed according to new procedures to avoid "terminate and replace" processing problems.

CBP has issued a CSMS message informing all parties of interest that the country code and country name of East Timor (TP) has been changed to Timor-Leste (TL). CBP asks the trade to note the change, as ABI will no longer accept East Timor (TP) in any ABI transmission effective October 30, 2008. Changes have already been made to Appendix B of the CATAIR. CBP has issued a CSMS message detailing certain changes made to its recently revised Importer Security Filing (10+2) draft transaction sets. (This message was issued after the drafts were revised, but before some of the drafts were given a new revision date (which could indicate additional changes.))
