Search Primer

Term list: Separate terms with spaces, not commas or semicolons.

Multi-word term: Place inside quotes to ensure an exact match (e.g. "China import").

Acronyms: Use all capital letters to ensure the search is not looking for that letter sequence instead.

Required term: If a term must be included in any resulting articles, prefix it with a plus sign (e.g., +CBP).

Excluded term: If a term should be excluded from any articles being found, prefix it with a minus sign (e.g., -ruling).

Singular form: Always use the singular form when doing multi-word terms (e.g. "russian export control" instead of "russian export controls").

Shortest word form: When you have different word forms in a quoted (multi-word) term, you want to only include the shortest version if it is the last part of the expression (e.g., "entity list" instead of "entity listing" or "entity listed").

FWS Hopes Next Step Toward Mandatory ACE Filing Finalized by End of 2022

TUCSON, Arizona -- The Fish and Wildlife Service hopes to finalize a proposed rule on its ACE filing requirements at the end of 2022, said Rhyan Tompkins, the agency’s ACE coordinator, at the National Customs Brokers & Forwarders Association of America annual conference May 2. The rulemaking would mark one of the final steps in what has been a stop-and-go process to develop the agency’s partner government agency (PGA) message set, with a voluntary ACE filing pilot open to all filers since 2020. Once ACE filing is mandatory, the agency will continue to allow filing as either a limited dataset, with most data filed in the agency’s eDecs (electronic declarations) system and only a confirmation number provided in ACE, or the extended dataset comprising all the required data elements in ACE, Tompkins said.

FDA to Require DUNS Number at Entry for All FSVP Importers July 24

FDA will require that food importers transmit their Data Universal Numbering System number for entries of food subject to the Foreign Supplier Verification Program regulations beginning July 24, it said in a guidance document released April 27. The agency will on that date end a grace period that has allowed importers to instead transmit “UNK” for unknown instead of a DUNS number since 2018 (see 1705100028).
