Clear Terms

Search Primer

Term list: Separate terms with spaces, not commas or semicolons.

Multi-word term: Place inside quotes to ensure an exact match (e.g. "China import").

Acronyms: Use all capital letters to ensure the search is not looking for that letter sequence instead.

Required term: If a term must be included in any resulting articles, prefix it with a plus sign (e.g., +CBP).

Excluded term: If a term should be excluded from any articles being found, prefix it with a minus sign (e.g., -ruling).

Singular form: Always use the singular form when doing multi-word terms (e.g. "russian export control" instead of "russian export controls").

Shortest word form: When you have different word forms in a quoted (multi-word) term, you want to only include the shortest version if it is the last part of the expression (e.g., "entity list" instead of "entity listing" or "entity listed").

The Office of the U.S. Trade Representative posted USTR Schwab's July 22nd remarks at the Doha Ministerial in Geneva. Schwab's remarks include a new proposal to limit U.S. agricultural subsidies to $15 billion per year. Senator Grassley, ranking member of the Senate Finance Committee and senior member of the Agriculture Committee, commented on the USTR's $15 billion proposal, and the reaction from leading developing countries that it was not enough. Voluntary Nature of ISP Agreements with AG Questioned

A trend of “voluntary” agreements between corporations and law enforcement raises serious constitutional questions, attorneys and privacy advocates say. The latest example was last week’s announcement of an agreement between the New York Attorney General’s office and Verizon, Time Warner Cable and Sprint (WID June 12 p4). The ISPs agreed either to block or remove entirely access to Usenet discussion boards known to carry child pornography, and to block access to offending sites as they are identified by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
