On September 28, 2011, the Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a voluntary recall of an additional 1.7 million units of Little Tikes Workshop and Tool Sets manufactured in China and the U.S., due to a choking hazard associated with the sets' toy nails. The recall follows an August 2009 recall of about 1.6 million toy workshop sets and trucks with the same toy nails. Under federal law, it is illegal to sell or resell a recalled product.
During the inaugural North America Consumer Product Safety Summit, the Consumer Product Safety Commission and its sister agencies1 in Canada and Mexico signed a joint statement pledging greater inter-agency coordination in six areas including border surveillance, joint recalls, and consultation on proposed regulations and standards.
