The International Trade Commission is terminating the Section 337 patent-based investigation of certain electronic devices (such as mobile telephones and computers) with multi-touch enabled touchpads and touchscreens (337-TA-714), which was based on a complaint filed by Elan Microelectronics Corporation of Taiwan against Apple Inc. of Cupertino, CA. The ITC determined to affirm the final initial determination finding no violation of Section 337. The International Trade Administration has announced that on it has reopened the rebuttal comment period on its "Interim Final Rule on Certification of Factual Information to Import Administration during Antidumping and Countervailing Duty Proceedings" until July 14, 2011. The interim final rule amended the requirements for certifications that must accompany submissions by businesses and government (and by legal counsel or other representatives, if applicable) of factual information in antidumping and countervailing duty proceedings, in order to lengthen and strengthen the current certification language.
