The Commerce Department announced the opportunity to request administrative reviews by Sept. 30 for producers and exporters subject to 40 antidumping duty orders, 12 countervailing duty orders and one suspension agreement with September anniversary dates.
The Commerce Department and the International Trade Commission began five-year sunset reviews of the antidumping and countervailing duty orders on circular welded carbon quality steel line pipe from China (A-570-935/C-570-936) and refillable stainless steel kegs from China (A-570-093/C-570-094); as well as the antidumping duty orders on welded large diameter line pipe from Japan (A-588-857); diffusion-annealed, nickel-plated flat-rolled steel products from Japan (A-588-869); uncovered innerspring units from China (A-570-928), South Africa (A-791-821) and Vietnam (A-552-803); and refillable stainless-steel kegs from Mexico (A-201-849), Commerce said in a notice released Aug. 30.

Passenger vehicle and light truck wheels imported by Allied Wheel are not covered by antidumping and countervailing duty orders on steel wheels from China, the Commerce Department said in an Aug. 21 scope ruling. It said it was relying on a number of prior, similar rulings, as well as the physical characteristics of the wheels in question.

China’s Foreign Ministry this week criticized Canada’s decision to impose a 100% tariff on Chinese electric vehicle imports (see 2408260033), saying the measure “ignores facts” and “disrespects” World Trade Organization rules. “This typical protectionist move disrupts China-Canada trade relations, harms the interests of Canadian companies and consumers, and does little good to Canada’s green transition process and global effort for climate response,” a ministry spokesperson said during an Aug. 27 press conference in response to a question from a wire service reporter. “China will take all measures necessary to safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese enterprises.”
