FCC Seeking New Lead Administrator for Cybersecurity Labeling Program
The FCC Public Safety Bureau asked for applications starting Wednesday for lead administrator of the commission’s voluntary cybersecurity labeling program. The application window closes Jan. 28. UL Solutions, selected as lead cybersecurity label administrator (CLA) during the Biden administration, withdrew last month, said a bureau notice Tuesday.

In June, FCC Chairman Brendan Carr confirmed that he had directed the agency's Council on National Security to review the cyber trust mark program (see 2506200059). He then said in November that concerns remained about possible ties to China by some CLAs, including UL Solutions (see 2511200052). The FCC has conditionally approved 13 CLAs, the bureau said.
