The company said it faced mission operations and space safety issues, including intermittent outages to the U.S. Space Force’s space situational awareness (SSA) portal, Space-Track.org, and the "substantial time gap" between launch and when Space Force officially catalogs and screens satellites for conjunctions. When newly launched satellites aren't in the catalog, they're unavailable for Space Force SSA services, Amazon said, adding that it deals with the issue by sharing satellite status and trajectories with other satellite operators and space safety stakeholders using temporary catalog numbers. The company also said it's committed to offering operational data such as trajectories and maneuver forecasting to other operators, but many don't provide these or even contact information to Space Force through Space-Track. Amazon "assumes maneuver responsibility where other operators cannot be contacted," it said.
