Gogo Updates FCC on Rip-and-Replace Delays
Gogo Business Aviation updated the FCC on Tuesday about delays it faces in removing unsecure gear from its network under the commission’s Secure and Trusted Communications Networks Reimbursement Program. The company, whose network was built using gear from China’s ZTE, redacted parts of its filing in docket 18-89.

The components needed aren’t available “off-the-shelf commercially,” Gogo said, noting that it placed “a large-scale network equipment order with a selected vendor” and is expecting gear to be delivered through the end of the year. "Due to the nature of deploying networks and Gogo’s limited spectrum holdings, the vendor must deliver nearly all ordered equipment and install all components in their entirety to allow Gogo to fully deploy the network before the ‘flash’ cutover."
