FCC Giving Up 3rd Floor of Headquarters to Health and Human Services
The FCC will relinquish the third floor of its Washington headquarters and 33 parking spaces to be occupied by the Department of Health and Human Services' Office of Inspector General, according to an internal email obtained by Communications Daily. An FCC spokesperson confirmed the move Thursday.

Releasing the 45,000 square feet of leased space will save the agency over $3 million annually, the spokesperson said in an email, adding that the White House and OMB have ordered agencies to eliminate unnecessary space, cut costs and reduce the federal real estate footprint. "Through this space release, the FCC is acting as a good steward of space utilization at HQ, consistent with OMB [and General Services Administration] instructions relating to space." The shift is expected to happen in March, and affected staff will be relocated to the fourth and ninth floors, the spokesperson said.
