Importers Move to Consolidate 24 Cases Challenging IEEPA Tariffs
Various importers sought to consolidate their cases against the legality of tariffs imposed under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act, all of which were filed after the Supreme Court held oral argument in the lead cases on the question. In all, the companies sought to consolidate 24 different cases on the IEEPA tariffs, all of which were brought by Crowell & Moring.

In moving to consolidate the cases, the companies said each case concerns the same issue, the IEEPA tariffs, and that each importer "intends to move for a preliminary injunction suspending liquidation of covered entries" while the Supreme Court mulls the lead cases on the IEEPA tariffs. The brief said consolidation also will "prevent duplicative preliminary-injunction briefing, avoid inconsistent scheduling and rulings, and conserve the resources of the Court and all parties."
The high court held oral argument in the lead IEEPA cases earlier this month, during which many of the justices appeared skeptical of President Donald Trump's ability to use the statute to impose tariffs (see 2511050001).
