CBP Will Discontinue Use of Document Image Systems for Outbound Cargo Declarations

CBP reminded the trade that the agency plans to discontinue the use of the Document Image System (DIS) for submitting outbound cargo declarations, starting Dec. 1, according to a cargo systems message. This includes the CBP Form 1302A: Cargo Declaration, supplemental form CBP 168, and any associated documents that comprise the outbound cargo manifest, CBP said.

Carriers and vessel agents can submit the hard copy or the Electronic Export Manifest (EEM) via Electronic Data Interchange using the ACE EEM application, CBP said. However, filers who do not use EEM will need to submit all other outbound cargo declarations in paper directly to the point of departure. Submitting declarations via port email inboxes will not be permitted.
