This request for additional information applies to fresh forms of squid, such as meat, tentacles and the body, and not to processed products such as noodles, pasta or fried or battered items, the NBCFAA said, quoting FWS.
FWS is asking for these pieces of information for all current and future declarations: (1) harvesting vessel names; (2) harvesting vessel fishing authorizations; (3) harvest dates; and (4) harvest areas. FWS also is asking for any shipping or transport details from the harvest nation to any processing countries.
Providing these details will support compliance with 50 CFR 14.52(c)(3) and help expedite shipment processing, the NCBFAA said. "Providing this documentation at the time of filing will help reduce clearance delays. FWS appreciates your continued efforts to ensure compliance and transparency in seafood imports."
FWS didn't immediately comment.
