Greer didn't say that a meeting between President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping is a sure thing in a few weeks. "There's a spot for it on the schedule, if it happens," he said. "It's a mutual decision. But we'll see."

Greer said the "good landing zone" for U.S.-China trade is an actively managed trade relationship, where China does not have such a large trade surplus in goods, and the two countries are "trading in non-sensitive goods."
