EU Parliament Briefing Outlines Steps to Raise Russia Sanctions Pressure
A new European Parliament briefing published this week analyzes the state of EU sanctions against Russia, including developments last year and possible next steps that the bloc could take to increase pressure against Moscow.

The report points to a “number of untapped sectors” the EU could target and measures to “maximise their impact,” such as more trade restrictions on Russian energy, import bans or higher tariffs on Russian fertilizers, and import bans on Russian aluminum and nickel. It also said the EU can increase its export control enforcement to better target flows of battlefield goods to Russia, as well as professional service providers -- including lawyers, money managers and accountants -- that help with sanctions evasion.
