- CBP field officers on Jan. 16 seized nearly 70,000 Zolpidem Tartrate pills that were hidden in a shipment of yarn from India, the agency said. The pills, commonly known as Ambien, were hidden in 96 rolls of black yarn spooled around pink tubes and were destined to an address in Buena Park, California. The shipment was first inspected at an air cargo warehouse near Washington Dulles International Airport on Dec. 17. The pills were discovered inside each of the 96 spools of yarn; total domestic value of the pills was about $33,000 (here)
- CBP field officers on Jan. 24 seized methamphetamine with an estimated street value of over $8.1 million at the Laredo Port of Entry in Texas, according the agency said. A 2003 Volvo 760 hauling a commercial shipment of industrial machinery had been referred for secondary inspection at the World Trade Bridge. During the inspection, CBP officers discovered a total of nearly 890 pounds of alleged methamphetamine within the commodity, CBP said.
