ITC Begins Section 337 Investigation on Wireless Communication Devices

The International Trade Commission is beginning a Section 337 investigation on certain wireless communication devices (ITC Inv. No. 337-TA-1429) after receiving allegations filed by International Semiconductor Group that Dell, HP and Lenovo are importing products that infringe its patents, the agency said in a notice.

In a complaint filed in November (see 2411210053), ISG said Dell, HP, Lenovo and their subsidiaries are importing "certain wireless communication devices and components thereof" that infringe on its patented machinery. The ITC will consider a limited exclusion order and cease and desist orders against the respondents. "The technology includes components and protocols used to establish a wireless local area network (“LAN”) that allows connected devices to exchange data and access the Internet," according to ISG.
