EU Adds New Listings Under Syria, Anti-Terrorism, Human Rights Sanctions Regimes
The EU made new sanctions listings under three regimes, the European Council announced. Under the anti-terrorism list, the council added two individuals and one group linked to ISIL operating in the Cabo Delgado region in Mozambique. The group is ISIS-Mozambique and the two individuals are Abu Yasir Hassan and Bonomade Mahcude Omar, who hold leadership positions in the group.

The council also added 25 individuals and eight entities to its Syria sanctions regime. The entries are those responsible for producing and trafficking narcotics, specifically Captagon, and include members of Bashar al-Assad's family, members of regime-affiliated militants, businesspeople with links to the Assad family and individuals linked with the Syrian army and military intelligence. Other listings include private security companies and individuals connected to these companies. The council also sanctioned Russian engineering and construction company Stroytransgaz and the Syrian-controlled Gecopham for supporting the Syrian regime.
Under the human rights sanctions list, the council sanctioned eight individuals and one entity for violating human rights in Iran. The listings include Ariantel, an Iranian mobile service provider, Iranian lawmakers, members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and the IRGC Cooperative Foundation.
