Non-EU Countries Align With 4 Recent EU Sanctions Moves

Various European countries not in the EU aligned with four recent sanctions decisions taken by the European Council, the EU announced March 8.

The countries of North Macedonia, Montenegro, Albania, Ukraine, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway imposed the council's further restrictive measures against Russia Feb. 25. These same countries also aligned with the council's move on that same date to add 87 individuals and 34 entities to its list of parties sanctioned for threatening the sovereignty of Ukraine.

Those countries and Moldova aligned themselves with the council decisions to sanction eight individuals and seven entities for their role in committing serious human rights abuses, and to add one person to the Mali sanctions list.
