The investigation follows a complaint filed in May by Honeywell and its subsidiary Hand Held that alleged that Zebra Technologies and Symbol Technologies infringed on five patents related to barcode mounting and scanning mechanisms, issued to Hand Held Products 2014 to 2022. The patents cover image and symbol reading of barcode scanners as well as technology for managing multiple readers through interface nodes (see 2205260026).

The ITC is moving forward on two similar investigations following a complaint last month by Honeywell and Hand Held against Zebra and Symbol (ITC Inv. No. 337-TA-1317) on three other alleged patent violations (see 2206020009) and an investigation on Honeywell and Hand Held following a February complaint by Zebra and Symbol (ITC Inv. No. 337-TA-1306) (see 2203100005).
