The notice follows a May 11 complaint by Sonrai Memory alleging that laptops, desktops, mobile phone, and tablets, imported by Amazon, Dell, EMC, Lenovo, Motorola, LG and Samsung infringe on Sonrai's U.S. Patent 7,159,766 issued in 2007. The patent covers designs allowing processors to enter low-power states while connected to USB devices. Sonrai is asking the commission to issue a permanent limited exclusion order and cease and desist orders following the investigation.

The ITC is seeking public interest statements that address how the articles are used in the U.S.; identify any public health, safety or welfare concerns relating to the requested remedial orders; identify like or directly competitive articles; whether Sonrai has the capacity to replace the volume of articles potentially subject to the requested remedy; and how the requested remedial orders would affect U.S. consumers.
