ITC to Consider Section 337 Import Ban on Adidas Footwear With Knit Components

The International Trade Commission is beginning a Section 337 investigation into allegations that Adidas footwear infringes Nike's patented technology for manufacturing knit textile footwear components, the ITC said in a notice Jan. 13. Nike's Dec. 8 complaint said several models of shoes from Adidas, including the Samba Sock Primeknit, Pureboost Go and Pro Boost Mid, copy its patented Flyknit manufacturing process, which results in a reduction in waste and the ability to re-use and recycle materials (see 2112140061). The ITC will consider whether to issue a limited exclusion order and cease and desist orders banning importation and sale of infringing merchandise by the following respondents to the investigation:
