Topics include: the state of antitrust and consumer protection law, specifically on communication, information and media technology; market power analysis; the intersection of privacy, big data and competition; authority to “deter unfair and deceptive conduct in privacy and data security matters”; competitive impacts of acquisitions; monopsony power; the role of IP and competition policy in promoting innovation; consumer welfare concerns about algorithms, artificial intelligence and predictive analytics; and investigation, enforcement and remedial processes.
