Canadian Government Notices for April 20

The government of Canada recently issued the following trade-related notices for April 20 (note that some may also be given separate headlines):

  • Canadian international transactions. Statistics Canada has reported that foreign investment in Canada was $9.3 billion and Canadian investors added $9.4 billion in foreign securities in February. (here)
  • Preclearance program transport changes. The CBSA has issued Customs Notice 15-013 which outlines and explains to importer and customs brokers of changes to the changes to Transport Canada’s pre-clearance program for the commercial importation of new Canadian compliant vehicles. (here)
  • Canadian Government to invest in Nova Scotia Harbors. The Canadian Government has announced it is investing $10 million which will go to Nova Scotia harbors to improve their infrastructure and safety. (here)
  • Government to invest in Canada medical devices. The Government of Canada will invest $15.2 million to Canadian manufacturer Baylis Medical, which manufacturers and distributes medical devices. The investment is intended to help the company commercialize and manufacture three new medical device product lines in which will also enhance its global competitiveness. (here)
  • CFIA to consult with micro and small businesses on Canada’s food safety system. The CFIA has announced it is consulting with micro and small businesses on the agency’s efforts to improve Canada’s food safety system by identifying food businesses, ability to trace a food products path one step forward and one step back and preventive food safety controls.
