  • Prime Minister of Canada to travel to China. The Prime Minister Stephen Harper has announced he is traveling to China on Nov. 5 to 10 to discuss increasing trade and prosperity and strengthening bilateral relations between the countries. (here)
  • North American competitiveness conference. The Minister of International Trade Ed Fast met with the U.S. Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker and Mexico’s Secretary of Economy Ildefonso Guajardo Villarreal to discuss their shared vision for the future of North American growth and job creation along with ways to improve North America’s competiveness.   • Steel and steel products to use General Import Permit 80-81. The CBSA has released Customs Notice 14-027 which outlines and informs imports that steel and steel products can use General Import No. 80 or General Import Permit No. 81 on release requests which is covered by Import Control List of the Export and Import Permits Act.   • Relief of interest and/or penalties including voluntary disclosure. The CBSA has released Memorandum D16-6-4 which outlines and explains the circumstances that may allow for relief such as extraordinary circumstances, certain actions and voluntary disclosures through the agency. (here)
