  • Windsor-Detroit bridge announcement to start up operations. The Minister of Transport Lisa Raitt and Michigan Governor Rick Snyder announced the beginning of the project for the construction of a new bridge between Windsor, Ontario and Detroit, Michigan which is expected to cost $ billion and will increase trade between the port crossings.   • WTO failure to adopt protocol for Trade Facilitation Agreement (TFA). The Minister of International Trade Ed Fast announced Canada’s disappointment on the WTO failure to adopt the TFA which would have reduced trade costs by up to 15 percent and would have directly benefited Canadian small and medium-sized businesses.   • Changes to export certification and eligibility requirements for fish. The CFIA has announced it is changing the process to export fish and must comply with the Fish Inspection Regulations which outlines the additional requirements needed to export fish. (here)
  • New Regulations for movement of grain. The Minister of Agriculture Gerry Ritz announced new regulations related to the implementation of the Fair Rail for Grain Farmers Act which will ensure and improve the movement of grain by rail to markets as efficiently as possible. (here)
  • Government of Canada working with fruit and tree nut industry to develop new standards. The CFIA announced it is working with the Agriculture and Agri-food Canada along with partner organizations to develop new voluntary biosecurity standards aimed at protecting Canada’s fruit and tree nut industry from plant pests and diseases.   • Beef and Veal TRQ quota reallocation. The DFAIT has announced that the Department was accepting applications for the available quota on beef and veal quota on a first come, first served basis. (here)
  • Product Recalls. Harris Products Group recalls torch handles manufactured in Poland (here), FGL Sports Ltd. recalls Capix Evo and Capix Jr Evo Bike and Skateboard Helmets manufactured in China (here), Husqvarna recalls Honda Powered 7021p 21 inch Husqvarna Push Mower manufactured in the United States (here)
