Canadian Government Notices for March 10

The government of Canada issued the following trade-related notices for March 10 (Note that some may also be given separate headlines.)

  • Canada-Korea trade. The Prime Minister Stephen Harper was in South Korea from March 9-10 along with the Minister of International Trade Ed Fast and Minister of Industry James Moore to meet the South Korea’s President Park Geun-hye to discuss ways to increase trade and investment between the countries.   • Pro-trade plan to open new markets for Canadian exports. The Minister of International Trade Ed Fast was in Barrie, Ontario to promote Canada’s new Global Market Action Plan as well as the new Canada-EU Trade Agreement to help businesses find ways that Canadian government can support, grow and take advantage of the elimination of certain tariff for exports.   • China stainless steel sinks. The CBSA has announced that effective March 10 all case arguments will be due for the reinvestigation into the dumping and subsidizing of certain stainless steel sinks originating in or exported from China. (here)
  • Heinz issues voluntary recall for infant food packaging defects. The CFIA announced that it is advising the public that certain Heinz food brand infant food products may contain packaging defects that may allow for the entry of spoilage microorganisms and that the company is conducting a voluntary recall.
