CBP Revises CHB Exam Notice, Lists Specific Parts of CATAIR to be Tested
CBP revised its notice of customs broker examination, giving more specificity as to the parts of the Customs and Trade Automated Interface Requirements (CATAIR) the agency may test on. A previous version of the notice included the CATAIR as among the materials to be tested on, raising some concern as to the amount of material being covered on the exam (see 13062019).

The notice now lists the following parts of the CATAIR as important reference materials for the exam:
- Appendix B -- Valid Codes
- Appendix D -- Metric Conversion
- Appendix E -- Valid Entry Numbers
- Appendix G -- Common Errors
- Glossary of Terms
The notice also listed the time for completion as four hours, a half hour less than the previous notice. The change in time is likely a mistake, said Renata Pearson, president of CCRA Customs Compliance/Regulatory Affairs, who also instructs a class for the exam for the Customs Brokers and Forwarders Association of Northern California. Pearson, who speaks frequently with agency officials, said she expects the notice to be updated soon to reflect the increased time. CBP didn't comment.
