Eligibility varies by state, according to Assurance Wireless, which said people in New Mexico can apply if eligible for other programs including Medicaid, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, Supplemental Security Income, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program, General Assistance, Federal Public Housing Assistance or the national free lunch program. Applicants can also demonstrate low income other ways, it said. The federal USF supports Assurance’s services.
