ITC Votes to Institute Investigation on LSI & Seagate Integrated Circuits
The International Trade Commission voted to institute an investigation of certain integrated circuit chips and products containing them. The products at issue in this investigation are generally integrated circuit chips contained in hard disk drives, solid state drives, high-speed communications systems and interfaces, computer servers, data storage systems, controller boards and personal computers.

The investigation is based on a complaint filed by Realtek Semiconductor Corp. of Taiwan on Sept. 19. The complaint alleges violations of section 337 of the Tariff Act of 1930 in the importation into the U.S. and sale of certain integrated circuit chips and products containing them that infringe patents asserted by Realtek. The complainant requests that the ITC issue an exclusion order and cease and desist orders.
The ITC has identified the following respondents in this investigation:
- LSI Corp. of Milpitas, Calif.
- Seagate Technology, Inc., of Cupertino, Calif.
