FMC Delays Comment Deadline on Freight Rate Indices Until Aug. 8
The Federal Maritime Commission granted an extension of the deadline for comments on its inquiry into whether it should develop and publish freight rate indices. The comments had been due July 9, but the FMC extended the comment period to Aug. 8.

The National Customs Brokers and Forwarders Association of America had requested a two-week extension of the deadline, and the Agriculture Transportation Coalition sought a 30-day extension.
NCBFAA had launched an online survey of its members (here) on the inquiry, with all surveys to be completed by July 3. It told FMC that July 9 provided too little time to analyze and report on the results of the survey, and that there was no urgency in completing the inquiry, a spokesman told us.
