Canadian Government Notices for June 6

The government of Canada issued the following trade-related notices for June 6 (note that some may also be given separate headlines)

  • Energy efficiency regulations. CBSA issued Customs Notice 12-014 that lists energy efficiency regulations that took effect on April 12, 2012. Effective June 6, 2012 the list of newly regulated energy using products is now available on the CBSA website and the effective date to submit required data elements to obtain release of newly regulated using products through the OGD interface takes.   • Commercial hand carried goods. Customs notice 12-017 was issued for the attention of importers and customs brokers who are involved in the importation of commercial hand carried goods. (here)
  • China pup joints. Memorandum D15-2-61 was issued for the application of anti-dumping and countervailing duties to importations of certain pup joints originating in or exported from China. (here)
  • Prison labor tariff changes. Memorandum D9-1-6 outlines and explains the provisions of tariff no. 9897.00.00, which prohibits the importation into Canada of goods manufactured or produced wholly in part by prison labor. (here)
  • Domestic substances list. Order number 2012-87-02-01 was issued which amends the domestic substances list. (here)
  • Regulations for food additives. New amendments to regulations for calcium acid pyrophosate (here), aceslfame-potassium and sucrose as sweeteners (here), Lecithin (here), and octenyl succinic anhydride (OSA) modified acacia gum (here) were listed.
  • APEC meeting. The Minister of Trade Ed Fast wrapped up his participation at APEC highlighting Canada’s commitment to free and open trade and urging member economies to guard creeping protectionism. (here)
