Canadian Government Notices for April 5-7

- Meat inspection regulation. The proposed amendment would repeal certain requirements concerning the registration of materials used in packaging or labeling of meat products, convert prescriptive requirements, where possible increase alignment of regulations and policies with Canada’s major trading partners, and allow more flexibility in the types of activities that can be carried out within a federally registered establishment. - Bicycles expiry review of order. The CITT gave notice that it is reviewing the dumping of bicycles, assembled or unassembled, with wheel diameters of 16 inches and greater, originating in or exported from Taiwan and China, excluding bicycles and excluding bicycles with foldable frames and stems. - Export controls handbook. The DFAIT has posted the export controls handbook on its website for review and reference. (here)
- Thermo Pac Recall. Simply Thick LLC announced the voluntary recall of Simply Thick thickening gel products manufactured at its food processing plant located in Georgia. The recall was initiated because the U.S. Food and Drug Administration advised Thermo Pac that it had failed to file with the FDA a scheduled process to ensure that harmful bacteria were destroyed during the manufacturing process.
