  • EU-U.S. agree to AEO-C-TPAT mutual recognition. The EU and the U.S. strengthened ties through a number of initiatives agreed upon at the Transatlantic Economic Council (TEC), such as facilitating customs procedures, strengthening cooperation on electric vehicles and new technologies, raw materials, etc. The EU and U.S. also agreed to mutually recognize each others' "secure traders" programs - the Authorized Economic Operators (AEO) program in the EU and the U.S.' C-TPAT - by June 2012.   • EU launches toy safety campaign. Since July 2011, toys sold in the EU must satisfy strict safety rules. The European Commission is now launching a toy safety campaign to show how to get the safest toys and how to use them safely.   • Guidance on naming substances under REACH. The European Chemicals Agency has published a new guidance and updated a guidance fact sheet for manufacturers and importers on identification and naming of substances under the EU's REACH and CLP regulations. (here)
