- North American customs leaders. Senior customs officials for North America recently spoke at I.E.Canada's 80th Annual Conference & Tradeshow. Commissioner Bersin stated that CBP is working to expedite legitimate trade by moving to an environment that manages shipments by account, rather than by transaction, and towards simplification through programs such as ACE and Single Window. Mr. Portelance of Canada stated that the components needed to manage an integrated border are in place. Mr. Martinez of Mexico talked about the importance of an integrated strategy and working together to provide effective service at the border. (here)
- E-manifest highway company testing. The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) has updated the list of companies who have completed testing of their software/service for ACI eManifest - Highway. (here)
- Calcium magnesium hydroxide. The Department of the Environment has issued a significant new activity notice regarding the substance calcium magnesium hydroxide. (here)
- Cheese products. The Department of Health is seeking comments on a petition it received to increase the maximum level of use of the preservatives sorbic acid, potassium sorbate and calcium sorbate in unstandardized processed cheese products. (here)
- Broiler hatching eggs/chicks. Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada updated its notices on broiler hatching eggs and chicks for chicken production - supplemental imports (here) and (here)
- CIT classification appeals. The Canadian International Trade Tribunal will hold hearings in December to consider appeals on the proper classification of certain greenhouse carts and parts thereof and gravity knives. (here)
- Trade with India. Canada's International Trade Minister Fast held the second annual dialogue with his Indian counterpart as part of the effort to triple Canada-India trade by 2015. They also agreed on the timing for the next round of negotiations on a comprehensive economic partnership agreement (CEPA). (here)
