- Voluntary recall of U.S. rice chips. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency announces that manufacturer, Lundberg Family Farms is voluntarily recalling the Lundberg Family Farms brand Sea Salt Rice Chips, a product of the U.S., because it contains soy which is not declared on the label. (here)
- Continued supervision of certain Zimbabwe diamond exports. Canada’s Foreign Affairs Minister announces that Canada rejected a statement by the Chair of the Kimberley Process which incorrectly states that a compromise was reached at the recent Intersessional Meeting regarding exports from the Marange diamond fields in Zimbabwe. Minister Baird stated that Canada did not endorse the proposal submitted by the Chair, and Canada continues to call for supervised exports from two Marange mines and a credible monitoring arrangement. Without these systems in place, Canada refuses to go along with the plan to certify Zimbabwe’s diamonds. (here)
