Canadian Government Notices for June 3-4

  • Enhanced sampling, testing of produce from Europe. The CFIA, in collaboration with Canada Border Services Agency, will be implementing enhanced controls on cucumbers, lettuce and tomatoes from the European Union due to current E. coli outbreak in Europe. There is no indication that any contaminated product has been shipped to Canada; however, as a safety precaution, incoming shipments from the European Union will be identified and the CFIA will intensify sampling and testing of these products.   • DFAIT invites applications for specialty creams TRQ. Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada is inviting applications for quota shares of the 394,000 kg specialty creams tariff-rate quota (TRQ) available for allocation for the period August 1, 2011 to July 31, 2012, among other things.   • Thickening gel product recall. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency and Simply Thick, LLC announce a voluntary recall of its Simply Thick® thickening gel products manufactured at a food processing plant located in Stone Mountain, Georgia since June 1, 2009. This voluntary recall is limited to only those products manufactured at the Stone Mountain, Georgia plant. Simply Thick products manufactured at two additional food processing plants are not subject to this voluntary recall. (here)
