April 12 COAC Meeting on Broker Revision Project, Air Cargo, Bonds, ITDS, Etc.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection has issued a notice announcing that the Departmental Advisory Committee on Commercial Operations of U.S. Customs and Border Protection and Related Homeland Security Functions (COAC) will meet on April 12, 2011 in Washington, DC from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

According to CBP, COAC will be meeting to review and discuss next steps on the following issues:

  • The Role of the Broker, a Broker Revision Project
  • One U.S. Government at the Border - Interagency Issues
  • Automation/International Trade Data System
  • Enhancing Air Cargo Security
  • National Strategy Global Supply Chain Security and the Secretary’s work to foster international standards and cooperation
  • Enhancing Intellectual Property Rights
  • Enforcement Efforts
  • Risk Based Bonding and Risk Factors

April 12 COAC Meeting to Include a Public Comment Period

A public comment period will be held during the April 12 meeting from 4:25 pm to 4:55 pm, and speakers are requested to limit their comments to 3 minutes. CBP notes that individuals interested in registering as a speaker should contact Wanda Tate at (202) 344-1440.

CBP is also inviting written public comment on the issues being considered by COAC. Comments must be submitted no later than April 6, 2011. (See notice for complete submission details.)

Meeting Registration Deadline
