Use of Unknown MIDs in Entry Summaries No Longer Permitted

CBP has issued a CSMS message announcing that the use of unknown Manufacturer Identification Numbers (MIDs) as data to report the manufacturer (or supplier) is no longer permitted effective September 15, 2010.

Effective September 15, 2010, entry summaries reporting unknown MIDs may be rejected by ABI or port personnel, including those filed in ACE. CBP notes that updates to the ACE Entry Summary Instructions document and the ACE CATAIR have been made.
