During his April 12, 2010 meeting with President Obama, Chinese President Hu Jintao stated that China would firmly stick to the path of reforming its currency exchange rate mechanism. 2. U.S. and Mexico Agree to Working Group on NAFTA Trucking

During an April 12, 2010 meeting in Monterrey, Mexico to discuss transportation issues, DOT Secretary LaHood and Mexico's Transportation Secretary Horcasitas agreed to establish a working group to consider next steps in resolving outstanding motor carrier issues in the cross-border trucking program, stating the resolution of this problem was of highest priority. 3. USTR Issues Statement on April 2010 ACTA Negotiations

The Office of the U.S. Trade Representative issued a statement on the next round of the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement negotiations that began April 12, 2010 in New Zealand. USTR states that the U.S. hopes to reach consensus on a text that would provide meaningful information to the public and be a basis for productive dialogue. 4. Deputy USTR, Costa Rican Trade Minister Discuss DR-CAFTA, Etc

5. DHS Secretary Met with African Officials on Intl Aviation Security

On April 11, 2010, Department of Homeland Security Secretary Napolitano visited Nigeria to meet with top officials from across Africa and the International Civil Aviation Organization to discuss ways to bolster global aviation security. Her visit marked the fourth in a series of major international meetings intended to build consensus on strengthening global aviation security. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announces Graco Children's Products Inc.’s petition for exemption as manufacturer from the notification and recall responsibilities regarding certain child car seat pillows that failed to meet flammability requirements, on the basis that this noncompliance is inconsequential to motor vehicle safety.
