Carolina and 10 other states, plus a few Verizon exchanges in California. The companies still need approval from the FCC and regulators in Arizona, Illinois, Ohio, Oregon, Washington and West Virginia. The Federal Trade Commission and Justice Department granted a request by the companies for early termination of the waiting period required under the Hart-Scott-Rodino antitrust act, Verizon said. Frontier has received cable-TV franchise approvals from 10 of 41 communities the company will serve in Oregon and Washington, Verizon said.
