(CBP recently issued a memorandum announcing that effective November 3, 2009, it would no longer accept versions of CBP Form 7501 dated prior to June 2009. At that time, sources noted they were in the process of getting approval to extend the start date.)

Beginning April 1st, Entry Summaries Filed Using Other Form Versions Will be Rejected

As of April 1, 2010, the only official form that CBP will support is the CBP Form 7501 dated June 2009. Beginning April 1, 2010, entry summaries filed with a form other than the June 2009 version will be rejected.

(CBP is transitioning to this form, based on an Office of Management and Budget requirement. OMB requires that CBP review public use forms every three years.)

Although 7501 is Not Required for ACE Entry Summaries, May be Used During Test Phase

CBP notes that although the CBP Form 7501 is not required for ACE entry summary transmissions, this form may be used as a cover sheet in lieu of the CBP Document/Payment Transmittal form during the test phase.

2009 Version Contains No Substantial Changes Compared to 2005 Version

According to CBP sources, the June 2009 version does not contain any substantial changes compared to the previous version of the form (dated April 2005).

The two differences in the forms are (1) the new version's date at the bottom right hand corner of the form and (2) the addition of the expiration date (March 31, 2012) at the top right hand corner of the form.

CBP sources noted that CBP is especially interested in ensuring that versions of the CBP Form 7501 that are dated earlier than April 2005 are no longer used.
