1. Mexico Replaces Customs Inspectors, Doubles Inspection Force
Yahoo News reports that Mexico has replaced all 700 of its customs inspectors at all 49 of its customs points with 1,400 educated agents who have undergone background checks and months of training. 2. China's AQSIQ Releases Measures for Inspection of Food and Feed
China's General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection, and Quarantine released its "Measures for Supervision and Administration of Inspection and Quarantine on Import and Export Feed and Feed Additives." 3. ASEAN and India Sign Trade Agreement to Liberalize 90% of Products
After six years of negotiations, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations and India have signed the ASEAN-India Trade in Goods Agreement. The ASEAN-India TIG Agreement will see tariff liberalization of over 90% of products traded between the two regions. The Agreement will enter into force on January 1, 2010 once India and at least one ASEAN Member State notify completion of their internal ratification process. 4. FAS Announces Assessment of Fees for Dairy Import Licenses for the 2010 TRQ Year
The Foreign Agricultural Service has issued a notice announcing a fee of $150 to be charged for the 2010 tariff rate quota (TRQ) year for each license issued to a person or firm by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) authorizing the importation of certain dairy articles, which are subject to TRQs set forth in the Harmonized Tariff Schedule. 5. DDTC Sends Notifications of Proposed Export Licenses to Congress
The State Department's Directorate of Defense Trade Controls has forwarded the certain Notifications of Proposed Export Licenses to Congress pursuant to sections 36(c) and 36(d) and in compliance with section 36(f) of the Arms Export Control Act. 6. ITA Corrects Review Period for August Opportunity to Request Notice
The International Trade Administration has issued a notice of correction of its notice of opportunity to request antidumping and countervailing administrative reviews published in the August 3, 2009 Federal Register. The ITA is correcting the review period for the CV duty administrative review of dynamic random access memory semiconductors from Korea to 01/01/08 - 08/10/08. 7. CBSA Announces Highway Sufferance Warehouse Closure at Sommerville
Canada Border Services Agency has posted a Customs Notice advising that, effective August 28, 2009, Day & Ross Incorporated, located at 14582 Trans Canada Highway, Sommerville (Hartland), NB will be surrendering its highway sufferance warehouse license. 9. CBP Accredits/Approves Firms as Commercial Gauger and/or Laboratory
U.S. Customs and Border Protection has issued notices stating that it has accredited and approved the following companies as a commercial gauger and/or laboratory for petroleum and petroleum products, organic chemicals and vegetable oils, and to test petroleum and petroleum products for customs purposes, in accordance with 19 CFR 151.12 and 151.13, on the effective dates listed (see individual notice for dates of next triennial inspections):
