CBP Expands List of ISF Edits That Will be Fatal Errors On August 15th

U.S. Customs and Border Protection has issued a CSMS message reminding Importer Security Filing filers that certain edits will become fatal errors on August 15, 2009 as scheduled.

(On July 12, 2009, CBP implemented the changes contained in the "pending release" ISF transaction sets for the Automated Broker Interface and the Automated Manifest System. CBP also announced that certain edits would become fatal errors on August 15th.)

Edits That Will Be Fatal Errors

CBP previously stated that the following edits were implemented as warnings on July 12, 2009, but would become fatal errors on August 15th:

Edit for missing Importer of Record

    • CATAIR / CAMIR - Error Code 302, Error Message 'Importer Required'
    • X.12 - Error Message '485 NM1 Missing Importer'

Edit for incorrect Action Reason Code

    • CATAIR / CAMIR - Error Code 132, Error Message 'Invalid Action Reason Code'
    • X.12 - Error Message '470 M1016 Invalid Value'

CBP's CSMS message states that the following additional edit will also become a fatal error on August 15th:

Reporting a party using an identification number (IRS number or Social Security Number) that is not currently on file with CBP

Edits Will be Switched from Accepted with Warnings to Rejected

The ISF edits will be switched from 'ISF ACCEPTED WITH WARNINGS' to 'ISF REJECTED' on August 15th.

CBP states that questions should be directed to Client Representatives, or 703-650-3500.
