ACE Reported to be Moving from Office of Information and Technology to OT

According to sources, this change results from CBP moving ACE from the Office of Information and Technology (OIT) to the Office of International Trade (OT). Baldwin will still direct the Office of International Trade.

(ACE is a CBP initiative designed to modernize the agency's international trade business processes, improve border security and re-engineer the IT systems that support them.)

ACE Responsibilities to Include Deployment and Business Recommendations

According to a CBP press release, Baldwin will be responsible for establishing a vision for ACE deployment that meets the needs of both the agency and the trade community. Working with the ACE Executive Steering Committee, comprised of CBP Assistant Commissioners and chaired by the Deputy Commissioner, Mr. Baldwin will coordinate and recommend business decisions including business requirements, prioritization, implementation and communications.

Baldwin has been chosen as EBO due to his tenure with the agency and his familiarity with the program, including the release for filing of entry summaries nationwide in ACE. He is well versed on ACE as he has served on the CBP Modernization Board of Directors and his area of business within the agency is directly influenced by ACE.

(Assistant Commissioner Baldwin directs the Office of International Trade on the national trade policy and the national trade program function of CBP and the development of CBP's national strategy to facilitate legitimate trade. OT was created in 2006.)
