Draft Food Safety Bill Subcommittee Markup on June 11th

According to Congressional sources, the House Energy and Commerce Committee's Health Subcommittee will hold a markup of the discussion draft of comprehensive food safety legislation called the Food Safety Enhancement Act of 2009 on June 11, 2009. Climate Change Stakeholder Input Published by Agriculture Committee

Agriculture Committee Chairman Peterson announced the publication of responses to the Committee's climate change survey. The Committee received more than 200 responses to the questionnaire. (In March 2009, the Agriculture Committee created the climate change questionnaire and distributed it to over 400 organizations to gather input on proposals to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.)

Maritime Workforce, Coast Guard Bills Marked Up by House Committee

The House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee has issued a press release announcing that on June 5, 2009 it marked up and ordered reported favorably several bills, including H.R. 2651, the Maritime Workforce Development Act and H.R. 2650, the Coast Guard Modernization Act.

TSA Authorization Act Passage Statement by Homeland Security Committee Chair

House Homeland Security Committee Chairman Thompson has issued a statement regarding the passage by the House on June 4, 2009 of the Transportation Security Administration Authorization Act.

Deputy USTR and Treasury Nomination Comments by Senate Finance Chair

Senate Finance Committee Chairman Baucus (D) has issued a statement in connection with the nomination hearing of Deputy U.S. Trade Representative Sapiro and certain Treasury nominations.
